KUALA LUMPUR – Mohd Sany Hamzan, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Hulu Langat parliamentary seat, claimed some candidates from opposing parties had no problems using religious and racial issues to gain an edge in their campaigns.

“We feel ashamed when we see our political rivals, including veterans, resorting to using such issues like claiming DAP is a communist party and is Chinese-majority-based in their campaigns.

“At night, in their ceramah, they hit out at the Chinese, but the next morning, they go to their (Chinese) shops to buy bread,” he said in jest while speaking at a youth event in Semenyih last night.

He also claimed that Perak PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria had accused PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim of wanting to legalise LGBT activities if he is elected prime minister.

Sany said there were bigger problems in the country which needed urgent attention, especially corruption and the unstable economy, which is a concern for most people.

“The issue now is that some people have yet to get back on their feet after the Covid-19 pandemic and are still looking for jobs.

“Then, there are other issues like bad roads, flooding, unfinished schools, and unresolved garbage problems,” he said.

The Hulu Langat parliamentary seat will see a six-cornered clash involving Sany (PH-Amanah), Datuk Markiman Kobiran (Gerakan Tanah Air-Pejuang), and Datuk Abdul Rahman Jaafar (Warisan).

Other candidates include Datuk Johan Abd Aziz (Barisan Nasional-Umno) and Mohd Radzi Abd Latif (Perikatan Nasional-Bersatu), as well as an independent, Mohamed Mustafa. – The Vibes, November 14, 2022
