KOTA KINABALU – Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor believes everything is fine with Perikatan Nasional leader Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin following the coalition’s switch to support Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Hajiji, who is also Sabah Bersatu chairman, said he believes Muhyiddin was already aware of GRS switching, adding that the support towards Anwar was done for the good of Sabah.
“We are thinking about Sabah (when GRS decided to support the unity government). GRS’ priority is towards Sabah. I think Tan Sri (Muhyiddin) is aware of this.
“I think there will be no problem as this is the decision within GRS,” he told reporters here after tabling the Sabah Budget 2023 today.
GRS comprises, among others, Bersatu, Sabah Star and SAPP – which are also components of PN.
Hajiji who is also Sabah chief minister said GRS had expressed support to the formation of the unity government led by Anwar yesterday and noted this was for political stability and for the good of Sabah.
The Sulaman assemblyman also said that GRS had no problem working with Warisan and Pakatan Harapan (PH) since they were now supporting the PH-led unity government.
Warisan and PH are the opposition bloc in Sabah.
Hajiji believes that all of the opposition leaders in the state are mature individuals, with the needs of the people and the state being their top priority.
When asked whether GRS-BN will demand the deputy prime minister’s post, Hajiji said the state is not demanding anything and left the matter to Putrajaya to decide.
GRS won six parliamentary seats in the general election, while only one seat went to PN which was won by Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee in Beluran. – The Vibes, November 25, 2022
