KLANG – The enhanced movement control order involving Top Glove Corp Bhd worker dormitories and selected factories here has been extended for another 14 days.
So far, a total of 5,805 screenings have been carried out and 3,406 workers tested positive.
According to the risk assessment carried out by the Health Ministry, Senior Minister (Defence) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said those workers who tested negative are still at risk and a second round of screening is ongoing.
“The workers under quarantine are wearing the pink wrist bands and none of them are allowed out in the surrounding communities. They are all placed in quarantine centres,” he said in his daily briefing today.
He said the employer has to bear the cost of screening, managing the low-risk quarantine and treatment centres, transport and food.
“Those who pass their Covid-19 screening will have to wear wristbands of a different colour other than pink.”
Meanwhile, he said mass screening of foreign workers will begin tomorrow in Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, Penang and Sabah.
He added that the Human Resources Ministry has identified certain factories.
“Those who tested positive but are asymptomatic, can self-isolate at the dorms if there is ample space, otherwise, they have to be placed in quarantine centres.
