KULIM – Politics that leans towards race and religion to woo voters is now obsolete as the country’s political landscape has now changed, says Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Zahid said that the politics of inclusivity and unity is now more relevant and real than ever before in Malaysia.
“The voters have shown us and we should take our cue from this,” said the Bagan Datuk MP.
As such, he opined that Barisan Nasional (BN) must learn to adjust to meet the expectations of voters.
Speaking at a mega ceramah to support the Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate, Mohamed Sofee Razak, for the Padang Serai parliamentary by-election here, BN chairman Zahid emphasised that his coalition must learn from its mistakes.
“Otherwise, our political lives are of irrelevance. I believe PH is a good political partner.”
Earlier, all national unity government leaders urged voters here to stop Perikatan Nasional (PN) in its tracks for propagating the politics of hatred fueled by racial and religious polarisation.
Among those who touched on this were PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Kedah PH chairman Datuk Mahfuz Omar, and Kedah DAP chairman Tan Kok Yew.
Several metres away within the vicinity, PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin addressed a similar strong turnout, saying that he was confident that its candidate Datuk Azman Nasrudin has a chance to wrest the seat. – The Vibes, December 6, 2022
