KUALA LUMPUR – The post-mortem for casualties of the early morning landslide at a campsite in Batang Kali will be conducted at Sg Buloh Hospital.

This is according to a spokesman from Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL), who told reporters that the directive from police had only been conveyed once the bodies had arrived at the general hospital here.

An entourage of police vehicles carrying an unidentified number of victims was spotted entering the HKL morgue area at around 12.20pm.

The convoy left about 10 minutes later.

Earlier on, Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said as of 11am, 13 individuals had died in the incident while seven were receiving treatment in various hospitals.

Three patients, including a pregnant woman, are in the emergency department at Selayang Hospital while three are being treated at Kuala Kubu Baru Hospital.

Another patient, who is suffering spinal injuries, is being monitored at HKL.

So far, police said 21 people are still missing while search-and-rescue efforts with more than 200 personnel are ongoing.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail at 12.30pm ordered all camping sites and water recreational areas in Batang Kali to close with immediate effect.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and several ministers are also expected to visit the area later today. – The Vibes, December 16, 2022
