PUTRAJAYA – The Plantation and Commodities Ministry has set a 100-day key performance indicator (KPI) to boost the agri-commodity sector’s export value to RM35 billion, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
Fadillah, who is also Plantation and Commodities Minister, said the KPI includes improving palm oil smallholders’ wellbeing by helping them achieve 55,000 tonnes of fresh fruit sales through Koperasi Penanam Sawit Mampan.
Another goal is to develop 2,000 skilled workforce in the sector, modernise its management and ensure the commercialisation of six research and development projects, he said.
“The main focus of this short-term KPI includes the enforcement of tobacco product licensing by registering as many as 15,000 premises online,” he said at a press conference after attending his ministry’s New Year gathering here today.
The ministry will also increase the local agri-commodity market’s access to the international arena in addition to empowering the delivery of digital technology-intensive services by increasing the percentage of end-to-end online services to 98.5%, he said.
Fadillah said that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had instructed all ministries during the recent cabinet session to prepare three levels of KPIs namely short-term which is 100 days, medium-term (two years) and long-term (five years).
“We (the ministry) have also drafted some Budget 2023 initiatives to be implemented to support those achievements,” he said. – Bernama, January 26, 2023
