KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s son, Datuk Mohd Nazifuddin Najib, will contest for the post of Langkawi Umno division chief in the ongoing party elections, according to Utusan Malaysia.

This is in addition to the deputy Youth chief post that he is also eyeing, the Bahasa Malaysia news portal said, citing sources.

Nazifuddin announced his intention to contest in the youth wing late last month.

Utusan’s source said he had also submitted a candidacy form for the division chief post.

Beside Nazifuddin, another of Najib’s children, Nooyana, will also be contesting in the party elections that began on February 1 and will end on March 18.

Nooryana’s bid for a spot on the Puteri wing’s executive council was revealed by Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Mohd Puad Zarkashi recently.

Former prime minister Najib, who was also Umno president, is currently serving a 12-year jail sentence for corruption involving funds from SRC International Sdn Bhd. – The Vibes, February 22, 2023
