KUALA LUMPUR – A religious agency under the Prime Minister’s Department has allegedly committed “wrongdoings”, according to Datuk Ahmad Marzuk Shaary (Pengkalan Chepa-PN)

Claiming to be in the know of apparent wrongdoing, Marzuk told the Dewan Rakyat that he will disclose details on the matter if the agency does not rectify its misconduct.

During his debate on the budget for the Prime Minister’s Department at the policy stage today, Marzuk claimed to have “boxes worth” of information against Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (Yadim), a government-linked agency.

“Now is the age of data leakage. We have boxes worth of information, but we do not have time to reveal them here,” he said.

“But remember, we are monitoring religious agencies under the Prime Minister’s Department, and we have ample information.

“When the time comes, if you don't correct (your wrongdoing…” he added, trailing off.

Marzuk had expressed his discontent with the CEO of Yadim, assumed to be Tuan Kamarul Arief Tuan Soh, for allegedly posting on Facebook about taking action against PAS supporters on his first day after being appointed.

“It is fine if political appointments are done among the members of our board of directors, but this is among civil servants. Don’t be greedy,” Marzuk said.

“I know you do not do this (sort of thing) as you are a good person.

“And that goodness is far too good for DAP, Pakatan Harapan, and Umno. That’s all I can say,” he added.

Marzuk referenced former Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia’s speech back in 2017 when he halted a debate, during which he said: “If you have power, you are powerful; if you don’t use your power, you are a bloody fool.”

“Today, I don’t want to be a bloody fool.”

This sparked a brief argument between Marzuk and Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad (Kuala Selangor-PH), where the latter said the reference had no connection to the debate, before their microphones were cut off. – The Vibes, March 13, 2023
