PUTRAJAYA – It is business as usual at the Alamanda Shopping Centre here, except for the store where a wild boar roamed extensively in an incident which went viral on social media yesterday.
The sports store will be temporarily closed for business until further notice.
The management of Alamanda in a statement yesterday said the store’s closure was to pave way for thorough sanitising, as well as cleansing in accordance to Islamic compliance.
The shopping centre’s management added that sanitisation will be facilitated by officials from the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM), while apparels identified as “contaminated” will be disposed.
It said the mall’s common areas, especially in the vicinity of where the animal was found, had been cleaned and sanitised.
“Alamanda does not anticipate any impact on the mall’s business as this case has been well-contained and Alamanda will remain open and continue to do business as normal,” it said.
Meanwhile, the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) will install animal traps at the shopping centre's premises here.
Perhilitan said in a statement today that it would also work with the Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) to increase monitoring in the area.
“PPj and the management of the Alamanda shopping centre will also improve waste management to prevent the intrusion of wild boars in the future,” he said. – Bernama, December 8, 2020
