KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia today recorded 1,012 new Covid-19 cases and four deaths.

The Health Ministry, in a statement, said the national coronavirus tally now stands at 75,306, of which 10,862 are active cases.

The new fatalities – all women in Sabah – push up the death toll to 388.

The first victim is a 64-year-old with a history of high blood pressure, while the second is a 92-year-old with a history of anaemia and osteoarthritis.

The third victim is a 33-year-old with a history of diabetes, high blood pressure and chronic kidney disease, and the last is a 90-year-old non-citizen with no history of ailments.

Another 1,750 recoveries were registered, taking the total to 64,506.

Selangor saw the highest number of fresh Covid-19 cases at 417, or 41.2% of the total logged today. Sabah comes in second with 271, and Johor is third with 108.

Two new clusters were recorded, both in the Klang Valley.

The Seruling cluster involves the Klang, Hulu Selangor and Petaling districts, with 109 cases.

The Darul construction site cluster, involving Titiwangsa, Cheras, Lembah Pantai, Petaling, Sepang, Kuala Langat and Klang, saw 14 cases detected in targeted screenings conducted on 240 individuals.
