KUANTAN – Zakat payments through salary deductions were the biggest contributor to zakat collection in Pahang as of November 30, with RM54.1 million by 64,071 payers.

Regent of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah said other high zakat collections came from from business zakat payments of RM28.3 million, savings zakat (RM14.4 million), and income zakat (RM10 .9 million).

In total, the Pahang Zakat Collection Centre (PKZ) managed to collect zakat amounting to RM112.3 million involving 85,326 payers as of November 30.

“Muslims are reminded to immediately fulfill their obligation to pay zakat before December 31 to obtain income tax rebate facilities. All Pahang PKZ counters will also be open on Saturdays and Sundays for the last two weeks of this year.

“Apart from payment in cash, payers can also make payments using an automatic teller machine card or debit card in addition to other online applications provided,” he said in a media statement here yesterday.

Tengku Hassanal also said that all Pahang PKZ counters were responsible for receiving cash endowment payments starting this month, with endowments as low as RM5, which can also be transacted online at the ewakaf.muip.gov.my portal.

Yesterday, Tengku Hassanal, who is also the Pahang Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council president, consented to receiving zakat payments from seven institutions and corporate companies amounting to RM6.78 million in Istana Abdulaziz here. – The Vibes, December 10, 2020
