MIRI – A villager who was attacked and dragged into a river by a crocodile while fishing in a boat in northern Sarawak’s Lawas district was found drowned today.
The intact body of the victim, Yambuna Yading, aged 51, was found floating in Sg Patarikan at about 10am.
He went missing yesterday evening while fishing at the river with several family members.
According to a press statement by the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department, his family members witnessed a crocodile snatching him from the boat he was in.
“They saw the crocodile dragging him into the waters.
“After the family members called for help, the Lawas Fire Department dispatched a search-and-rescue team.”
“However, the victim could not be located yesterday. The body was found floating in the river this morning,” said the department.
The body was still intact and has been transported to the hospital mortuary for a forensic postmortem examination. – The Vibes, May 27, 2023
