King, queen wish Happy National Journalists’ Day to media practitioners

IPOH – Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah have extended “Happy National Journalists’ Day” greetings to media practitioners in the country.

This was shared in a poster on Istana Negara’s official Facebook page today.

May 29 has been gazetted as National Journalists’ Day (Hawana) in conjunction with the publication of the first edition of the Malay newspaper Utusan Melayu on May 29, 1939.

The Hawana 2023 celebration has been held here from last Saturday until today with the theme “Media Bebas, Tunjang Demokrasi” (Free Media, Pillar of Democracy).

The celebration is hosted by the Communications and Digital Ministry, with Bernama as the implementing agency.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim launched the celebration at the Casuarina Convention Centre here yesterday. – Bernama, May 29, 2023
