Second day of search operation fails to locate missing teen

IPOH – After day two of the operation yesterday produced no leads, the search-and-rescue operation to find a 17-year-old boy who went missing in Kg Tanjong Sejarah, close to Kg Tawai, Gerik, will continue today.

State Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the search for Muhammad Naufal Adzimi Mohd Hariss, who is believed to be mentally disturbed, was conducted within a 3km radius from where the victim’s motorcycle was found, with the assistance of two tracker dogs from the K9 unit.

“The search was called off at 6pm and will resume tomorrow morning, he said in a statement yesterday.

He said in the operation, which began at 10am yesterday, six teams were formed involving 82 people from government agencies, including 25 policemen, 12 firemen, a K9 unit (3), the Gerik District Council (5), the district office (2), and 35 civilians.

At 1.33am on Thursday, Gerik Fire and Rescue Station received a report of a missing teen. The victim was last seen around Kg Ulu Kenderong, Jalan Air Bertam, at 9am.

The victim’s family went in search of him, but only his motorcycle was found around 6pm in a rubber plantation 6km from Gerik. – Bernama, June 23, 2023
