IPOH – Bersatu has proposed several names for exco posts in the new Perak government, said Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.
“I have discussed it with the menteri besar, and I believe he will present these names to Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah. We hope for the best,” the state chapter chief told reporters here today.
Asked whether he will be made an exco, Faizal said it is unlikely that he will join the state administration.
The former menteri besar said he will focus on his duties as Tambun MP and Chenderiang assemblyman.
Four of the five excos sworn in under Menteri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad on Thursday served in the state government led by Faizal.
They are Datuk Zolkafly Harun (BN-Lintang), Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya (BN-Rungkup), Datuk Wan Norashikin Wan Noordin (BN-Kg Gajah) and Khairul Shahril Mohamed (BN-Bota).
The only new face was Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharudin (Bersatu-Sg Manik).
There are another five exco posts to be filled.
Faizal and the excos under his administration resigned last Saturday, a day after the Bersatu deputy president lost a vote of confidence in the state assembly.
The Perak legislature has 59 seats, of which 25 are held by Umno, DAP (16), Amanah (5), Bersatu (5), PKR (3), PAS (3), Gerakan (1) and independent (1). – Bernama, December 12, 2020
