KLANG – Only three ministries have more than 1% disabled employees, as stipulated in Service Circular No. 16, 2010, said Senator Ras Adiba Mohd Radzi.

She said they are the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry (1.87%), Defence Ministry (1.32%), and Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry (1.07%).

Ras Adiba, who represents persons with disabilities (PwD) in the Dewan Negara, said other ministries should provide more opportunities for this group to work, as they, too, are capable of serving the country.

“Only three ministries have more than 1% PwD in their workforce, as stipulated, and I hope the other ministries will meet the objective,” she told reporters after handing over contributions from OKU Sentral, in cooperation with the Jakel Group, to about 300 recipients in Kg Sg Udang here today.

As of June 2019, there were 3,686 PwD in the civil service, accounting for just 0.29%.

Ras Adiba, who is also OKU Sentral president and Bernama chairman, said she will keep up efforts to ensure compliance with the 1% PwD employment directive. – Bernama, December 12, 2020
