KUALA LUMPUR – A clip of the late Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub’s last work event is going viral, in which he shares what would be his final words to a public audience.
Posted on Twitter by Amanah Shah Alam chief Azli Yusof, the clip is of Salahuddin speaking to students at Universiti Utara Malaysia, which Azli said was his last message before being admitted to hospital in Kedah on Friday.

The late Amanah deputy president spoke to students about holding positions of power, whether as a minister or a top civil servant.
“Until when do we hold these positions? We have official cars, bodyguards, a driver...but for how long?
“So think carefully. Is it forever? Oh, I can show off that I am a minister. But whatever post we hold today, be aware – it is only temporary,” Salahuddin said.
The incumbent Pulai MP, whose seat is now vacant due to his death, was admitted to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Star on Friday night after experiencing nausea and vomiting before he was confirmed to have a brain haemorrhage.
He underwent emergency surgery which was completed successfully, but his condition was considered critical though stable.
Salahuddin died in the hospital last night at 9.23pm, according to his family and press secretary’s statements.
