KUALA LUMPUR – The “Selamatkan Malaysia” rally did not comply with provisions under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012, police said today.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said an investigation will be launched into the incident, adding that police will call up all relevant quarters to assist the probe.
“There are certain conditions under the PAA which the organisers did not meet.
“Police have a huge responsibility, and we will carry out investigations under the stipulated laws and take the relevant action,” he told a press conference today.
Earlier, protesters in the rally, mostly wearing white marched towards the Dang Wangi district police station.
Chanting “tolak Zahid” and “dakwa Zahid”, the crowd trudged to the police station to lodge a police report asking for Zahid to be charged again.
This follows the court’s decision to grant a discharge not amounting to an acquittal to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in his Yayasan Akalbudi corruption case. – The Vibes, September 16, 2023
