KUALA LUMPUR – Solicitor-General II Datuk Almalena Sharmila Johan has been appointed as the new solicitor-general effective October 2.

Attorney-General (AG) Datuk Ahmad Terrirudin Mohd Salleh said Datuk Suzana Atan has, meanwhile, been appointed as solicitor-general II replacing Almalena, also effective October 2.

“The appointments are in line with the Directive on the Transfer of Legal Officers No 107 and 108/2023. 

“All members of the Attorney-General’s Chambers congratulate this appointment,” he said in a statement today.

Almalena, who was previously head of the Advisory Division of the Attorney-General’s Department, was appointed as solicitor-general to replace Terrirudin, who officially began his duties as attorney-general on Sept 6.

Before this, Almalena, who represented the Attorney-General’s Department, joined law minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said and Malaysia’s ambassador to Spain Datuk Akmal Che Mustafa on a trip to Madrid, Spain to handle the Sulu claimants’ dispute.

Suzana, meanwhile, was the senior federal counsel who handled civil cases and election petitions. – Bernama, September 20, 2023
