THE Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has clarified that Datuk Mohd Joehari Ayub's resignation as president of the governing body was a personal decision without any outside interference or 'unseen hands'.
This was stated by FAM Acting President Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mahadi, who also stressed that speculations claiming that there was pressure from other parties to force Mohd Joehari's resignation were untrue.
He said that the FAM administration is currently running as usual and the FAM Exco line-up respects the decision taken by Mohd Joehari in addition to ensuring that the governing body moves according to the constitution.
"There is no (issue of) interference. This is his personal decision. A person who wants to continue or leave the position, that is his personal decision. I cannot answer why and what are the reasons.
"If we look closely, there is nothing extraordinary. Everyone can speculate, but we at FAM, there is none. We respect his decision.
"He has resigned, we just respect it. Everyone can express their own assumptions," he told a press conference at Wisma FAM, today.
Mohd Joehari replaced Tan Sri Hamidin Mohd Amin who had been FAM President since July 14, 2018 for two terms, 2018-2021 and 2021-2025, before deciding not to defend the position.
Mohd Joehari also created history by becoming the first individual from Sabah to be appointed president in the history of FAM, which was established 99 years ago. - August 29, 2025
