MELAKA Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, stressed that there is no more room for negotiation on the decision by DAP Melaka to withdraw from the state government administration after resignation letters were submitted yesterday.

He said the resignation letters, which are effective immediately, were received by the state government after the Pakatan Harapan (PH) elected representatives held a press conference on the matter yesterday.

“We received (the resignation letters) yesterday. After the press conference, they immediately sent the letters. That is why today, we saw the change in the position of seats in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN), it is because we (have) received the official letters of resignation.

“That is why when the Prime Minister asked for negotiations, I said we cannot negotiate because they have already submitted all the letters,” he said.

Ab Rauf was commenting on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s call for negotiations to be held following DAP’s withdrawal from the Unity Government administration in Melaka.

Commenting on the statement by Melaka PH Chairman, Adly Zahari, that PH would meet to determine the direction of cooperation with Barisan Nasional (BN), Ab Rauf said the state government would wait for the development.

“We will wait and see. I do not dare to say whether tomorrow is yes or no, what they are going to do.

"But we have accepted the impact of DAP's decision to no longer cooperate with this government," he added.

He also informed the state government that he had received a letter from PKR Melaka informing them that the party did not agree with steps taken by DAP.

At the same time, Ab Rauf stressed that the relationship between the Melaka State Government and the Federal Government would continue to be maintained despite the changes in the state’s political landscape.

He said that the state government would continue to cooperate with the Prime Minister and the Federal Government in all matters that benefit the state's development and the welfare of the people.

"The door to cooperation on issues of economic development, welfare and the interests of the people will always be open to all parties," he said.

He also assured that the state government administration would continue to run as usual with any administrative reorganisation being done prudently and guided by the interests of the people and the stability of the state.

Yesterday, DAP Melaka announced that it was withdrawing support for the state government in protest against the approval of the Melaka State Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2026 which introduced the appointment of appointed ADUNs.

The four DAP assemblymen are Allex Seah Shoo Chin (Kesidang), Low Chee Leong (Kota Laksamana), Leng Chau Yen (Banda Hilir) and Kerk Chee Yee (Ayer Keroh). – July 15, 2026
