KUALA LUMPUR - The Malaysian Football League (MFL) will team up with Information Technology leader, Ingres Technologies Sdn Bhd, to launch a first-of-its-kind Malaysian football application called Shoot!

According to the MFL’s chief executive officer, Datuk Ab Ghani Hassan, the M-League organiser welcomes Ingres’ contribution with a five-year agreement beginning this year.

In line with how information access and digital content has been made readily available through modern technology, he believes that the Shoot! application will be a welcome addition to the M-League’s portfolio of services.

“This application will offer all the latest Malaysian football news, information, and content in one app.”

He added optimistically that this announcement should please local fans, who can begin to enjoy content on Liga Malaysia and stay abreast on domestic football developments, including those pertaining to the national team.

“MFL wants to ensure that every fan is able to follow the latest football updates, and by working together with Ingres, the technology built into this app will give football fans access to information on not just the M-League teams, but also e-MFL, the men and women’s national teams, beach football, futsal as well as other competitions organised by FAM.

“Through the Shoot! app, fans can retrieve information regarding their favourite teams and ‘live’ match statistics as well as perform e-commerce transactions and more.

“Through this channel, we will be strengthening the relationship between fans and their favourite teams by rewarding the former for using the app.

“MFL hopes that this partnership with Ingres will fuel the passion for the game by providing local fans with the best content via this app,” he said in a statement.

According to Ingres Technologies chief executive officer, Datuk Emil Rinaldi Shaiful, the digital ecosystem plays a very important role in better understanding Malaysian football fans as the application of data is the key to increasing an organisation’s competitiveness in an age of rapid digitalisation.

“Ingres, with the cooperation of MFL, is committed to making Shoot! the leading Malaysian football application by not just making information and unique content available, but by adding more entertaining elements, such as extraordinary fan engagement, to fulfil the fans’ wishes beyond football action.

“Through sophisticated technology, I hope that this application complements the fan’s spectator experience as well as help the football ecosystem grow holistically.”

Apart from revenue generated through sponsorship, ticket sales and merchandise, Ghani asserted that the Shoot! app can also serve as a new source of income generation for the M-League team clubs.

“Currently, the shared revenue with clubs will prove how this app can help M-League teams generate income, and as we expand the app’s potential, this will be just one of the channels used to assist the clubs in the future,” he added.

The pre-launch of the Shoot! app will be held at the end of February, while Malaysian football fans will have the opportunity to explore the app when they’re able to download it on their Android- or iOS-operated smartphones at the end of March. – The Vibes, 10 February, 2021.
