KUALA LUMPUR - The Malaysian Netball Association (PBJM) will partner with Astro to introduce the Netball Super League 2021 (NSL 2021), which will take place from March 19 to April 11, 2021.

Alwiyah Talib, president of PBJM, described the NSL to be the best platform for women to showcase their talents while providing them equal opportunity in sports.

“We hope the increased coverage on Astro will inspire more women to play sports with the dreams of becoming a professional netball player,” said Alwiyah.

This, in turn, runs adjacent to the Youth and Sports Ministry’s (KBS) focus on developing women’s sports in Malaysia.

With the birth of the NSL, Malaysia will now be on the World map alongside other top netball countries such as Australia, New Zealand, and Jamaica.

With Astro’s partnership, Minister of Youth and Sports, Dato’s Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, is confident that it can help boost the sport among the women in Malaysia.

“I am impressed with the initiative that Astro has done to always work together with various sports associations to be able to broadcast it to the millions of viewers in Malaysia. It has helped transform sports into a heartfelt phenomenon amongst the citizens,

“I am sure the coverage of this league will be able to raise the dignity of women’s sports to higher levels and with KBS’ Women in Sports initiative,” he said.

At the same time, Astro Head of Sports, Lee Choong Khay shared that Astro strives to provide the best content to sports fans while navigating Covid-19 health and safety precautions.

“Astro will provide the best coverage and highlights of the NSL. We know sports fans are excited to watch (the NSL) since Malaysia retained its status as the powerhouse in Southeast Asia for the second time in SEA Games 2019,” Lee said.
