KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysian racer Adam Norrodin is happier with his performance in the CEV Moto2 Europe Championship at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, Spain yesterday than the earlier race in Portugal although he was on the podium on both occasions.
The 22-year-old rider of Liqui Moly Intact SIC Junior Team said things had improved a lot in his third-place finish in Valencia compared to one of the two races in the season opener in Estoril, Portugal two weeks ago.
"Firstly, I would like to thank my team for the amazing hard work for this week, as well as my family who has always supported and prayed for my success. I am super thankful for my result today and of course, there's still a lot more to improve in the next race in Barcelona.
“We will keep this positive mindset and maintain improving ourselves in the coming races. I really enjoy working with this team, and we will keep pushing hard until the end of this season … Lastly, I would like to say Happy Mother's Day to my mom and to all Malaysians, Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Thank you," the Johor-born rider said in a statement.
Adam finished third after clocking 14 minutes and 43.890 second, while Spaniards Fermin Aldeguer (14:38.816s) and Alonso Lopez (14:42.568s), both from Boscoscuro Talent Team-Ciatti, took the first two places.
The back-to-back podium finishes also helped Adam to be placed third in the championship standings with 45 points, below Fermin (75 points) and Alonso (60 points), ahead of the third round at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on June 13.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian outfit’s rider Muhammad Sharul Ezwan Sharil, in the European Talent Cup category, was disappointed after securing only 20th place in Race 1 and 16th in Race 2 yesterday.
“My biggest mistake today was I overshot in the second turn, and I didn't have enough pace to catch the group in front of me. In Catalunya, I will make sure to improve my riding and be more aggressive,” he said.
In the Moto3 category, Mohd Azman Syarifuddin had to be satisfied with 12th and 19th places respectively in Races 1 and 2. - Bernama. May 10, 2021
