THE Malaysian Football League (MFL) strongly advises all Malaysian League teams to strictly adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) set by the Ministry of Health (MOH) to avoid the formation of a Covid-19 cluster within the M-League.
Teams in the league have been urged to stay committed to the SOPs initiated for sports bubbles, which have been set up by the National Security Council (NSC) and the MOH.
MFL’s chief executive officer, Datuk Ghani Ab Hassan, said that they are on high alert to ensure that competing teams comply with the SOPs to avoid any possible Covid-19 clusters emerging during the 2021 season of the Malaysia League.
In light of the recent Movement Control Order (MCO), both the Super League and Premier League will cease operations temporarily from May 10 - July 8, 2021 and from May 9 - June 1, 2021, respectively. During this hiatus, Ghani demands that the teams ─ especially the players and officials ─ continue to adhere to the sports bubble SOPs.
He added that both officers and team players must undergo a PCR Test before they can resume training sessions after the Hari Raya Aidilfitri break.
In an official statement, Ghani said: “I call on all those involved in the football industry as well as the national football parties to remain disciplined when complying with the SOPs set in place for the sports bubble to ensure that the 2021 season of the Malaysia League stays on schedule.”
In an effort to reduce the chances of a cluster within the M-League, Ghani reminded all teams that after the Aidilfitri break, an RTK Antigen Test is required before, or on the day of, their first match as well as when players or officials take leave or participate in national team duties. ─ The Vibes, 12 May 2021
