KUALA LUMPUR - Sharvin Muniandy has become the second Malaysian cricketer to be signed up by a Nepalese club to play in the Everest Premier League after inking a deal with Bhairahawa Gladiators yesterday.
The fourth edition of the Twenty-20 (T20) tournament is scheduled to be held at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kathmandu, Nepal from September 25-October 9.
Sharvin’s deal was announced on the official Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) website.
According to the MCA, Virandeep Singh, 22, is the first Malaysian to have signed up to play in the Everest Premier League after he had inked a deal with Chitwan Tigers in August.
The Bhairahawa Gladiators are one of the six franchise teams in Nepal’s biggest T20 cricket extravaganza. The other teams in the Everest Premier League are defending champions Lalitput Patriots, Biratnagar Warriors, Kathmandu Kings XI and Pokhara Rhinos.
Sharvin, 25, will be teaming up with some of the biggest names in T20 cricket, including the likes of Tamim Iqbal, who is regarded as the greatest batsman in Bangladesh history; Upul Tharanga, a former Sri Lanka limited over captain who played for all formats of the game; and Dhammika Prasad, a right-arm fast-medium bowler also from Sri Lanka. - Bernama, September 17, 2021
