MONEY is the last thing on the mind of Emma Raducanu as her main objective is to build on her success at the US Open recently.
Not wanting to just be a one tournament wonder, as she continues to build on her unexpected success, Raducanu is leaving all financial matters in the able hands of her parents.
Raducanu's success at the US Open brought in prize money of £1.8 million (RM10.3 million) and she is absolutely unfazed about the winnings.
The tennis star says her focus is on playing while her parents could sort out her finances.
Raducanu, who has yet to spend a penny of her winnings, looks set to earn millions from sponsorship.
“I’m not the most organised, so I need to work on that, and I need to work on tidying up, unpacking, because I seem to leave out the suitcase even three weeks after my trip.
“I take my dishes after I eat, just the usual stuff. I’m honestly like every other teenager in that way.”
It has emerged that the words "Emma Raducanu", "Emma" and "Raducanu" have now been trademarked by the teenager.
Raducanu had in fact registered a company - Harbour 6 Limited - to manage her finances when 17.
Having returned on first class from the US, Raducanu was given VIP treatment by the government as a police escort sent her to her parents' home.
Due to Covid restrictions her parents Ian and Renee were not able to watch live the stunning victory of their daughter.
Raducanu admits its been a whirlwind journey and only now is the enormity of it all sinking into her.
The teen - who sat her A-Levels this summer - says she is planning to take some time out to rest following an intense seven weeks in the US - and is still unsure which tournaments she is going to play in in coming months. - Agencies, September 19, 2021
