DeChambeau who doesn’t care much for accuracy, smashed his opening shot onto a female spectator on the leg before settling in a treacherous spot.
The spectator was lucky the shot missed her head and thus suffered no serious injury.
The American produced a stunning escape from the rough and holed the putt, carding a rollercoaster opening birdie.
DeChambeau is often criticised for failing to scream out "fore" when his wild drives go off-line - and it was the case as the unsuspecting spectator was not duly warned.
