KUCHING – The Sarawak state government has been giving its full support to the two states football teams, Sarawak United FC and Kuching City FC.

State Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the support encompassed facilities and finance.

He said even though both state teams represent clubs but they carry the names of the state.

“Both Sarawak teams would receive assistance from the state government in the form of facilities or finance.

“We will not allow them to drift away with their problems such as unpaid salaries which could tarnish the image of the state. So we must ensure everything is in order,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters after launching Sarawak United FC jerseys here tonight.

Sarawak United FC will be meeting Kedah Darul Aman FC tomorrow in their opening Super League match in Kuching. – Bernama, March 4, 2022
