KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) has announced Bermaz Auto Alliance as their official automotive partner today.
The sponsorship includes three units of Peugeot 5008 – a seven-seater mid-range sports utility vehicle powered by a 1.6 litre twin-scroll engine with a fuel injection of 164hp and 240Nm torque – for men’s hockey team head coach Arul Selvaraj, women’s hockey team head coach Mohd Nasihin Nubli Ibrahim and MHC technical development director Paul Revington respectively.
MHC president Datuk Subahan Kamal expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Bermaz Auto during the official ceremony held at the Peugeot showroom in Glenmarie, Shah Alam.
“I am proud and honoured to receive Bermaz Auto’s sponsorship of three Peugeot 5008 units, proving their support and commitment in helping Malaysian hockey.
“I believe, in the long term, this sponsorship will bring great benefit to the development and progress of hockey in Malaysia,” he said.
The ceremony was officiated by Bermaz Auto executive chairman Datuk Seri Ben Yeoh and managing director Datuk Wong Kin Foo.
Subahan also hopes that this sponsorship will spark more companies to make the effort and take the initiative to follow in Bermaz Auto’s footsteps and contribute as sponsors to uplift the standard of Malaysian hockey.
Also present at the sponsorship ceremony were MHC deputy president Jadadish Chandra, national team management committee chairman Datuk Ahmad Najmi Razak, MHC treasurer S. Selvendran and MHC chief executive officer Norfaraha Hashim.
Bermaz Auto chief executive officer Datuk Francis Lee and Prima Merdu chairman Datuk Amer Hamzah Ahmad were also present at the ceremony.
Currently, the Malaysian men’s field hockey team is ranked 11th while the women’s team is ranked 20th in the world. – The Vibes, March 23, 2022
