BERLIN – Ferrari has appointed former Alfa Romeo boss Frédéric Vasseur as its new Formula One team principal, replacing Mattia Binotto, the Italian team said, reported dpa-AFX.
Binotto resigned last month, while Alfa Romeo said earlier that Vasseur will leave his role in January. The Frenchman brings with him more than two decades’ worth of motorsports experience, including a stint as team boss at Renault during the 2016 campaign.
“As someone who has always held a lifelong passion for motorsport, Ferrari has always represented the very pinnacle of the racing world to me. I look forward to working with the talented and truly passionate team in Maranello,” Vasseur said.
At Ferrari, Vasseur will once again work with Charles Leclerc, who made his debut as a F1 driver in 2018 for Alfa Romeo before moving to the Italian giants a year later. – Bernama, December 13, 2022
