KUALA NERUS – Ghana-born import player Jordan Mintah has no qualms about competing with two new strikers for a place in Terengganu FC’s (TFC) main eleven.
Instead, the Premier League top scorer in the 2021 season considers it a challenge to show a better performance this season.
Despite having been offered contracts by several other teams, Mintah, 27, said he chose to stay with the Turtles because of several factors, including Terengganu’s natural beauty and culture.
"It's always good to be back. I am happy to be back to Terengganu after half a season with Kuala Lumpur City FC (KL City FC) last year.
"Yes there is always competition (to be in the main eleven)...but I will do my best.
“Of course, it is not easy, but with some hard work, I think nothing is impossible,” he said when met at the team's training session at Kompleks Sukan Gong Badak, here.
Mintah said he will use the experience gained while with Bojan Hodak’s squad (KL City) to help TFC if given the opportunity to be in the starting lineup.
“I had a great and different experience back in Kuala Lumpur. We got to play in the Asia Cup and made it to the final and all the experience taught me a lot and I am glad to bring it here (to TFC),” he said.
Mintah joined Terengganu FC ll (TFC ll) in 2020 before being loaned to the City Boys in June last year.
However, he returned to TFC this season because he still has a contract until the end of the year.
His road ahead with the Turtles will not be an easy one after TFC took in two more imported strikers, namely Ivan Mamut from Croatia and Thai national player Adisak Kraisorn, who just lifted the 2023 AFF Cup trophy yesterday. – Bernama, January 18, 2023
