KUALA LUMPUR – Harimau Malaya are set to play two friendly matches in June against the Solomon Islands and Yemen.
Football Association of Malaysia president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin announced this today, saying that the Tier 1 matches will take place at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium in Gong Badak, Kuala Terengganu.
“Football fans on the east coast will have the chance to watch the match and support our national squad up close on the international stage,” he said.
Hamidin, who is also the chef de mission for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, was met after visiting the national diving squad’s training at the National Aquatics Centre in Bukit Jalil, accompanied by deputy chef de mission Datuk Nicol David.
He also announced that the ticket price will remain at RM30 for adults.
The friendlies provide Kim Pan-gon’s charges with the opportunity to prepare ahead of the 2023 Asian Cup to be held in Qatar in January.
Harimau Malaya, currently ranked 138th in the Fifa world ranking, will face the 134th-ranked Solomon Islands either on June 15 or 16, followed by 157th-ranked Yemen on June 20. – The Vibes, April 18, 2023
