KUALA LUMPUR – National diver Kimberly Bong gave the diving team its first gold at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia earlier today. 

Competing in the women’s individual 3m springboard event, 20-year-old Kimberly scored a total of 276.3 points to secure the win ahead of Indonesia’s Gladies Lariesa Garina Haga, who scored 273.1 points at Morodok Techo National Aquatic Centre. 

Malaysia walked away with two medals from the event after Ong Ker Yin claimed the bronze medal with her score of 248.7, edging out Thailand’s Lilli Prateep who finished fourth. 

Malaysia currently have seven gold medals after the national karate exponents started off strong by securing four medals in the sport, while sailors Mohd Hafizin Mansor and Izry Hafiezy Fitry Azri bagged gold in the men’s windsurfing RS:X and RS:One events respectively. 

Hosts Cambodia still lead the medal tally with 32 gold medals, while Indonesia are in second with 20, and Thailand in third with 17. – The Vibes, May 8, 2023
