MOSCOW – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is in close cooperation with Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh over the retrieval and transfer of those that died during the six week conflict in the region.

Eteri Musayelyan, a representative for the ICRC’s mission in Nagorno-Karabakh, told Sputnik news agency in an interview, that they were in close contact with Russian peacekeepers deployed to Nagorno-Karabakh following the November 10 agreement signed by the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia that brought the conflict in the region to a close.

“We are in close dialogue with them (Russian peacekeepers) as we are also present during body retrieval and handover operations as a neutral intermediary,” Musayelyan said.

Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov said on Monday that the Russian peacekeeping detachment would also work to facilitate the transfer of prisoners detained during the conflict. – Bernama, December 12, 2020
