Ex-senior minister Tharman to face three-way S’pore presidential race
Former senior minister Shanmugaratnam Tharman (pic) has been issued eligibility certificates to un in next month’s Singapore presidential election, along with senior investor Ng Kok Song and former National Trades Union Congress Income chief Tan Kin Lian.

SINGAPORE – Singapore's Presidential Elections Committee today issued eligibility certificates to senior investor Ng Kok Song, former senior minister Shanmugaratnam Tharman, and former National Trades Union Congress Income chief Tan Kin Lian to run in next month’s presidential election.

Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has issued the writ of presidential election, setting the nomination day on August 22, said Xinhua.

The presidential polls will fall on September 1, if more than one candidate qualifies to run for the presidency, according to a statement released by the country's Elections Department earlier. – Bernama-Xinhua, August 18, 2023
