THE Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) has generated sales of RM264.39 million, surpassing the initial target of RM40 million at the 50th edition of FOODEX Japan 2025.
Bernama cied today that the agency said RM1.2 million actual sales were generated and RM263.13 million in potential sales.
“Malaysian exhibitors also secured 313 trade enquiries, demonstrating strong trade engagement with visitors at the exhibition from March 11-14, 2025 at Tokyo Big Sight.
Chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz said the agency is dedicated to empowering Malaysian companies to thrive in the dynamic global food and beverage (F&B) landscape.
“We recognise the importance of continuous innovation and adaptation to evolving consumer preferences,” he said.
He said FOODEX Japan 2025 highlighted a rising demand for plant-based alternatives, functional foods, and sustainable practices, trends that will help Malaysian companies to strategise their future growth.
“MATRADE is committed to strengthening Malaysia's presence at FOODEX Japan,” he added.
“With the introduction of a dedicated halal, kosher, and organic halls at the next FOODEX, we are confident that Malaysian businesses are well-positioned to achieve sustained growth and market expansion, not only within Japan but across the broader Asian region and beyond,” he said.
MATRADE led a Malaysian delegation comprising 11 companies alongside the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority to showcase premium halal-certified F&B products.
The Malaysia Pavilion displayed the country's diverse offerings, featuring an array of confectionery, snacks, cookies, premium tropical beverages, seafood, bird's nest products and halal-certified coffee and processed poultry (duck) products.
Organised by the Japan Management Association (JMA), FOODEX Japan 2025 reaffirmed its position as the world's third-largest F&B trade fair, attracting 76,183 trade visitors from 70 countries. There were 3,000 exhibitors across 3,800 booths, including 2,000 international companies, making it a global marketplace for food industry professionals. – March, 28, 2025
