THE International Blockchain Organisation (IBO) has officially launched in Malaysia, pledging to boost public understanding of digital currency and artificial intelligence while fostering innovation in blockchain technology.

Strengthened by investors from China, Hong Kong, and Europe, IBO Malaysia aims to cultivate positive spillover effects by collaborating with prominent local figures such as national fashion icon Datuk Nancy Yeoh and fashion personality Francis Yip during its inauguration at the Confetti conference hall.

IBO’s Chief Business Development Officer Rolv Reissiger emphasised the importance of raising blockchain awareness through these partnerships.

“Fashion can be boosted with funding from cryptocurrency investors, especially since branded names such as bitcoin continue to gain traction,” he said, highlighting the potential cross-industry benefits of the collaboration.

Blockchain, a digital ledger that securely records cryptocurrency transactions, ensures transparency and protection against online fraud. IBO Malaysia seeks to position the country as a regional centre for blockchain research, innovation, and responsible adoption, aligning with a global mission to promote trust and collaboration within the blockchain community.

The launch event gathered industry leaders, academics, and blockchain experts to mark Malaysia’s progression in digital transformation. Reissiger noted, “Blockchain technology is not just about cryptocurrency – it represents the foundation of a transparent, secure, and decentralised future.

“IBO Malaysia is committed to creating a collaborative platform that connects innovators, regulators, and enterprises to unlock blockchain’s full potential across industries.”

IBO Malaysia will concentrate on four strategic areas: policy advocacy and regulatory alignment; fostering collaboration and innovation particularly in finance, supply chains, healthcare, sustainability, and creative industries such as fashion; international engagement to strengthen Malaysia’s role in the global blockchain network; and supporting the national government’s vision for an inclusive, innovation-driven digital economy.

“The future of blockchain is borderless – and so is the IBO’s mission,” Reissiger concluded. “Through partnerships, education, and innovation, we aim to make Malaysia a trusted node in the global blockchain ecosystem.” - October 21, 2025
