MALAYSIA’S growing influence in the global business events industry has gained further recognition with World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) Group Managing Director Datuk Sri Dr Irmohizam Ibrahim receiving the World Outstanding Business Leadership Excellence Award 2026 from the World Business Chamber (WBC).
The Special Excellence Award 2026 recognises his longstanding contributions in strengthening international business cooperation, fostering strategic partnerships and advancing Malaysia’s position as a preferred destination for global Business Events.
The award was presented by the Governor of Melaka, His Excellency Tun Seri Setia Dr Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam, who was the Guest of Honour at the inaugural WBC Dinner held at Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur on 30 July 2026.
The event was attended by prominent figures including Tun Datuk Seri Zaki Tun Azmi, Honorary Patron of KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific (KSI) and former Chief Justice of Malaysia and the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Courts, as well as WBC President Tan Sri Michael Yeoh.
WBC is an international platform dedicated to promoting responsible business practices, strategic collaboration and sustainable development by connecting business leaders, entrepreneurs, policymakers and academics from around the world.
Supported by KSI as its secretariat, the organisation aims to encourage global partnerships and advance sustainable economic growth.

Under his leadership, WTCKL has strengthened its position as one of the region’s leading convention and exhibition venues.
Earlier this year, WTCKL was awarded the ASEAN Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) Venue Award in the Exhibition Venue category for the 2026–2028 term in Cebu, Philippines, recognising its excellence in meeting ASEAN tourism standards.
As a Board Director of the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA), headquartered in New York, United States, Irmohizam has also contributed to expanding WTCKL’s engagement with a global network of more than 300 World Trade Centers across nearly 100 countries and territories.
Beyond the business sector, he continues to contribute his expertise through various roles in corporate governance, higher education and healthcare institutions, reflecting his wider commitment to leadership development, innovation and organisational excellence. - July 31, 2026
