KULAI – Asia Digital Engineering (ADE) plans to increase its maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facilities to 21 runways by 2024, said its chief executive officer Mahesh Kumar.

The engineering arm of Capital A (formerly known as AirAsia Group Bhd) launched two new MRO facilities at the Senai International Airport today.

With the two new facilities in the southern state, ADE currently operates seven MRO facilities across the country: one at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and four at the Subang airport.

Mahesh said the two new facilities at the Senai International Airport today gave access to developing countries across the Asia-Pacific due to its location.

“ADE sees this development as a golden opportunity to expand our presence and expertise in the MRO sector, especially in bringing more foreign investment to the state and the country through the aerospace industry.

“In line with ADE’s vision to nurture talent and community, we will also expand the function of this facility as a training centre for aviation professionals and aerospace engineering students across the country and the region.

“We believe investing in our people and the community is the best way to grow the company,” Mahesh told a press conference at the sideline of the ADE’s facility officiating ceremony at the Senai International Airport today.

The RM4 million new MRO facilities were officiated by Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.

The officiating ceremony was also attended by Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

Meanwhile, Capital A chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said the launch of the two facilities aims to strengthen the company’s position by offering the best MRO services with high efficiency for the region.

He added that the facilities would also help position Johor and Malaysia as the world’s leading MRO service providers for AirAsia and airlines in the region.

“The launch of this facility will further expand ADE’s presence in the aircraft engineering sector in Asia-Pacific.

“We are proud that ADE has forged another milestone today in driving and significantly changing MRO services, just like how AirAsia created a new market for the travel sector more than 20 years ago.” – The Vibes, January 18, 2023
