KUALA LUMPUR – Textile retailer Jakel Holdings Sdn Bhd is projecting encouraging sales next year following the discovery of the Covid-19 vaccine, and brisk demand and sales for its products.
Nevertheless, the group’s chief strategy officer, Mohd Fuad Ahmad, said he expects earnings this year to be slightly affected by the pandemic, compared with the RM1.4 billion earnings achieved last year.
“For the time being, people are still visiting our outlets while adhering to standard operating procedures.
“Sales are slightly affected, but not too badly as year-end sales are being held. The lifting of inter-state travel bans also resulted in more customers visiting our outlets,” he said Fuad said at a ceremony here today.
Fuad said Jakel has 21 outlets nationwide – except in Sarawak and Perlis – and noted that all outlets remain open.
On expansion plans, he said that several individuals have expressed interest in opening Jakel outlets, adding that the proposals are currently being reviewed.
“God willing, next year, when the pandemic ends, we will look at strategy and suitable locations for new Jakel outlets.”
Fuad said the group made substantial contributions under its corporate social responsibility initiative in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We would also like to encourage other corporations, associations, companies and individuals to help those in need,” he said. – Bernama, December 8, 2020
