THE MiC Drop: Asia Wildest Comedy Night event will kick off on October 2 at the Olive Tree Hotel, Penang, which is part of a nine-city tour throughout the region.
Mic Drop brings together comedians with different comedic styles, backgrounds and cultural perspectives in a single showcase.
These include Kumar from Singapore and Malaysia’s Harith Iskandar.
Other performers include Saaniya Abbas, aka the disruptor, Harry Jun, the wildcard and Prakesh Daniel, the host.
Kumar has spent decades captivating millions with razor-sharp wit, fearless social commentary, and unmatched audience interaction.
After Penang, the tour heads to Mega Star Arena in Kuala Lumpur on Oct 3 and to Hilton Kota Kinabalu on Oct 8 before concluding its Malaysian run at Sheraton Kuching on Oct 10.
In a special interview over teleconferencing, both Harith and Kumar said that their day job is to entertain and lighten the load of those feeling downcast.
"This is the very purpose of comedy. To make people laugh and hopefully ease their worries," said Harith.
The duo, who together can boast over two decades of comedy throughout the region and even the world, said they hope to connect with their audience with their wit and humour.
Harith says the ultimate aim is to entice people to come and enjoy a sense of relief, hopefully from their superb comedic timing.
The two also hope to use new materials in their presentation.
Harith performs exclusively during the Kuching show at Sheraton Hotel.
The messaging is simple - come and have a good time tickling the laughter muscle in one's body.
"Please come and enjoy. It is not often we are sharing the same stage," said the duo.
Adding to the appeal, each comedian will incorporate audience interaction into their set, ensuring no two performances are exactly alike. - September 14, 2026.
