ANIME is beloved all around the world, and it is no different in Malaysia. Now, indie animation studio Yore Productions is working on a new anime series set in Penang, titled ‘Project Dreamcatcher’.
Featuring the popular topics of heritage and preservation in the face of development, ‘Project Dreamcatcher’ focuses on a group of female young adults in school who team up to form a music group to save their community in a music competition.

The girls are Malaysian Chinese attending secondary school in Penang, however, in the name of international marketability, the show will be in Japanese. English and Mandarin dubs are planned eventually.
Established on June 27, 2019, Yore Productions is a 3DCG production house based in Cyberjaya that specialises in hybrid visual blending, a technique that combines 2D and 3D art styles.
They had previously produced the 3d animated short ‘The Cliff House’, which won a number of international awards from the US, India and Japan, among others.

Their current project seems born out of a love of exporting their love of Malaysia via the medium of anime. There has been no release date as of yet, and the crowdfunding page is not yet open, but local anime fans have something to keep an eye out for. – The Vibes, September 15, 2021
