KUALA LUMPUR – Actress Sharifah Amani Syed Zainal Rashid wed her sweetheart Ahmed Faris Amir in a private ceremony this morning.

Photos on social media showed the couple in white wedding finery at their wedding which was attended by around 200 guests.

Faris, 34, is chief executive officer of non-profit organisation Impact Integrated, while Sharifah Amani is 36.

They were wed by the chief imam of Masjid Saidina Umar Al Khattab in Bukit Damansara, Ustaz Mohd Rahimi P. Ramlee, who is also Islamic Development Department (Jakim) assistant registrar of marriages, representing the bride’s father Syed Zainal Rashid Syed Zainal Abidin, The Vibes’ sister portal, Getaran, reports.

Notable guests who witnessed the marriage included Vanidah Imran, Bront Palarae, Iedil Dzuhrie Alaudin, Nadia Aqilah, Nadiya Nisaa, Sherry Alhadad, dan Sangeeta Krishnasamy.

The couple’s wedding reception is to be held tonight.

Sharifah Amani, also known as Nani to those close to her, was winner of the Best Actress award in the 19th Festival Filem Malaysia for the 2006 film Gubra. 

She announced her engagement in June this year and had previously described her fiance as a “smart, funny person”.

According to Berita Harian, the couple first met when the actress served on the board of trustees of an organisation led by Faris. – The Vibes, September 10, 2022
