MALAYSIANS are fascinated by a Malaysian teacher - Loren Fren - a Christian from Sabah who teaches Jawi script and also effortlessly writes Jawi letters.

In a video which has since gone viral, she shared how she taught Jawi script to her students, including her handwriting of Jawi letters on the whiteboard and several papers.

According to her, since 2020, Jawi script has been in the Bahasa Malaysia Year 4 subject and will continue until Year 6.

"As Malaysians, we must know at least a little about this historical script and I urge everyone not to be negative about the Jawi script.

“It’s not often that I teach Jawi script, so I made a video to commemorate it," she said in her video.

Among those who congratulated Loren for her efforts is former Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik.

Many netizens have also praised Loren for her dedication, beautiful Jawi script handwriting and for embodying the true spirit of a Malaysian educator.- October 16, 2024
