THE high and competitive demand in the nursing sector has led to a strategic collaboration between Lincoln University College (LUC) and Cengild G.I. Medical Centre.

The cooperation, finalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) recently, aims to strengthen education and training in the relevant field.

Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Regional Relations at LUC, Amin Mohd Shukor, said that the collaboration is an important effort towards making LUC a reference centre and hub for producing trained nursing experts in the country.

According to him, the MoU covers three main components, including the Sponsorship of Nursing Diploma Students.

"Cengild will provide scholarships to eligible students under the established agreement, and they will also undergo Clinical Training and the Use of Hospital Facilities."

"Students will receive practical exposure at hospitals managed by Cengild to ensure they meet the requirements of the Malaysian Nursing Board and the Hospital Brand Identity Usage," he said.

Amin stated that LUC will ensure students always adhere to professional ethics during clinical training.

"LUC will also collaborate with Cengild to coordinate training schedules and maintain student academic records."

"In addition, LUC will ensure sufficient insurance to protect students and staff during the clinical training period," he said.

Amin further commented that collaboration is a strategic step to make LUC a centre of excellence in providing highly skilled nursing personnel.

"Through a combination of quality education and practical experience, we are confident that we can contribute to the workforce needs of the national health sector."

"As a partner, Cengild is committed to ensuring that students not only receive quality education but also relevant industry experience," he said.

He drew attention to the fact that the medical centre is also committed to regularly monitoring the academic progress of students and providing insurance to protect public safety and hospital liability throughout the MoU period.

Besides Amin, also present at the MoU signing ceremony were the Chief Operating Officer of Lincoln University, Aslin Hafiza Ali, the Director of Collaboration & Clinical at the School of Nursing & Applied Health Sciences, Razlyn Amieza Aron, and the Human Resources Manager of Cenglid G.I Medical Centre, Thilashiny Letchumanan.

Amin stated that the MoU is expected to produce a new generation of nurses capable of providing world-class healthcare services.

"This collaboration reflects the commitment of both parties to strengthen the nursing field and contribute to the development of the healthcare sector in Malaysia," he said. - January 8, 2025
