MIRI – Students sitting for the SPM examinations are turning to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department for help to get to schools amid this morning’s flash floods in the Bau district in southern Sarawak.

In a statement, the department said some of the inundated roads have cut off access to a handful of villages.

“We received alerts for help from students in Kg Segubang who are sitting for their SPM exams. They could not get to SMK Lake in Bau as their houses and the roads are inundated.

“Our (fire and rescue) teams have deployed boats to help get them safely to their exam centres.

“So far, we have sent five students to SMK Lake.”
