KUALA LUMPUR – When it was launched five months ago, the Covid-19 Assesment Centre (CAC) at Shah Alam’s Malawati Stadium – the largest in Selangor – catered to a maximum of 1,500 people per day.

It serves those in Petaling district, replacing the centre at the Subang Jaya Municipal Council hall.

However, the Malawati Stadium CAC has seen a huge increase in traffic since, in light of Selangor’s staggering Covid-19 surge.

When The Vibes photographer SADIQ ASYRAF visited the centre this afternoon, there was a crowd of some 4,000.

Selangor today recorded 4,308 coronavirus cases, making its total 290,660 – the highest tally nationwide.

People with disabilities, the elderly, mothers and their children, and non-citizens were present at Malawati Stadium today, with frontliners attending to their needs, including providing wheelchairs and stretchers.

There are CACs operating in eight other districts, namely Klang, Kuala Selangor, Sabak Bernam, Gombak, Hulu Selangor, Hulu Langat, Sepang and Kuala Langat. – The Vibes, July 12, 2021
