A FATHER of 10 from Kampung Parit Lapis Hassan, Simpang Renggam, near Kluang fell to his knees and cried tears of joy after his eight children finally got their birth certificates and MyKad from the National Registration Department (NRD).

He said he was overjoyed when his eight children received the  documents, which he hoped could change the fate of their family, reported Harian Metro.

"Today the children received their birth certificates, I am very grateful because such a huge burden has been lifted.

"The eldest and second children, aged 17 and 15, already have birth certificates.

"Thank you to the many people who helped my family, including the village head, various government agencies and the NRD.

"We have been living a hard life, I work in the village while my wife does not work. Let the children go to school to help them get a better futre," he said when met after the 'Program Menyemai Kasih Rakyat MEKAR Madani, Rakyat Disantuni', today.

The certificate presentation was officiated by the Deputy Director General of National Registration (Management), Raja Azlal Raja Azman.

Raja Azlal said that the Mekar program was started since 2020 when the country was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.

"We are aware that there are still people who do not have personal identification documents, especially those living in rural areas, the sick, the indigenous, the disabled (OKU).

"Without an identity card, it is difficult for people to carry out daily transactions or access the benefits of citizenship," he said. - September 9, 2025
