MALAYSIA's veteran public relations practitioner Datuk Nancy Yeoh is back after a sabbatical from the fashion scene with the launching of the new tech age NFT/Artificial Intelligence (AI) driven Blockchain fashion gala and iconic vogue glam for senior citizens.
Yeoh is putting together a first in the fashion show by integrating fashion, especially iconic shows for senior citizens with new age technology driven by NFTs and Blockchain technology.
The show on Monday in the Confetti, Seri Kembangan, will also see the launching of the International Blockchain Organisation of Malaysia, established to promote and develop the industry in the country-in line with the nation's aspiration to tap the digitalised world.
NFT stands for a unique digital asset recorded on a blockchain that verifies ownership.
Unlike cryptocurrencies, which are interchangeable (traded), each NFT is a one-of-a-kind token that can represent digital art, collectibles, or even physical assets, and serves as digital proof of authenticity and ownership.
The blockchain technology is a decentralized, distributed, and public digital ledger that records transactions in blocks linked with cryptocurrency trading.
Yeoh, who is revered in the Klang Valley fashion scene for her long work in the In-Stylo and Malaysian Fashion Week, which gave impetus to the local fashion industry, said that her new event blends the latest tech with the world of fashion.
But there is a catch here, Yeoh sensed that Malaysia has become an aged nation in 2021, so more attention should be devoted to the old folks in terms of fashion, modelling and healthcare.

Hence, Yeoh plans to engage senior citizens to help model the latest fashion apparel, especially outfits which suit those struggling with mobility issues and retirement wear.
An aged nation is defined by the United Nations when a proportion of citizens aged 65 and above reached seven percent of the population with states such as Perak and Penang leading the way.
And by engaging the young in NFTs and blockchains, Yeoh intends to expose the world of fashion to the digital currency, which she hopes can drive up the entrepreneurship of fashion design.
"We hope entrepreneurs can raise investors’ attention to help them with the right capital to grow the industry, especially in designing attire suited for the climate change phenomenon."
Meanwhile, a fashion industry personality, Francis Yip, who is renowned for his beauty show judging, is making a comeback after taking a break to mark a personal bereavement in Penang.
The St Xavier's Institution old boy will launch the show with a brief opening act, and he hopes not to disappoint the audience, which will come from all parts of the country, including overseas.
The blockchain organisation has also invited associates from Hong Kong, Taiwan and China to see the various opportunities available in both tech and fashion. - October 11, 2025.
